Boat Safety Course, March 7, 2015

The WYA sponsored the Commonwealth of Virginia Boating Safety Course held on March 7, 2015 at Bayside Marina, Colonial Beach. The course is a requirement for all vessel operators in Virginia waters by 2016. Seventeen members attended the class. All passed! Instruction was led by Kyle Schick. He was assisted by 3 other instructors. All members of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. The course covered rules of the road, safety, basic seamanship, boat handling and weather, among other topics. Delicious box lunches were served by Denson’s Grocery. It was a long day but it was very much worthwhile. Now, we are ready for boating season !!!!

 
  Here are the students taking a break and at right working hard.  The session was held at the Captain's Lounge at Bayside Marina.  Thanks to the Blunts for letting the club use the facility.
