Flag Raising, May 2011 |

Welcome to Westmoreland Yachting Association |

A great weekend for WYA's Flag Raising! Not a large crowd but all attendees had great fun. Attending by boat were Susan and Hunter on Run Away, Nina and Jennifer on Dream Catcher, Diane and Peggy on Saylor's Delight, and Phil and Carey on Apolonia. Attending by car were Dick and Anita, Chris and Mary Jane, and Linda Weaver. If you were not there you missed a great event!!!!
Saturday afternoon, about on time, the Bridge gathered to "raise the flags." Once the appropriate flags were raised, nice words were said by our Commodore Diane, acknowledgements were made, the cannon was fired, repeatedly, with much enthusiasm, and the Fleet was given its mission to go party! And, we did.
Joining the group were the owners and managers of Cole's Point. They wished us well and enjoyed the flag raising. Then all moved to AJ's Sports Bar for food and refreshment. We had to stop to wish well a newly married couple heading out of the marina for their honeymoon on a go fast boat. Short honeymoon....we saw them back at the marina early the next morning, with in-laws in tow. |

After AJ's, the party moved to Run Away (Hunter and Susan's boat) for yet more drinks and food. Of course! |

Next stop for the party was Apolonia, then on to the beach where Peggy Saylor set up for hot dogs and sides at our beach bon fire. We were joined by Mark and Julia, residents from down "the beach" and Alexandria. Enjoyed their company. |

We partied til the late hours with Linda Weaver singing with her ukulele.
The highlight definitely was the song she's written for WYA entitled "Party
Like You Mean It," our Club's slogan. You'll hear it at the next event.
Get ready to be impressed. It's fantastic. Thanks. Linda! Sunday morning Diane served up brunch for the group and we slowly got underway for home. As usual, fun times with the troops and some new plans for upcoming boat trips. |
