Long Trip 20-26 July 2015

The long trip is always great. Attendees included: Bill and Donna, Dan and Elaine, Phil and Carey, Bob and Gail, Steve and Mary Ann, Gary and Nancy, Bob and Norma, Phil and Patti, Chris and Mary Jane, Mike and Vicky, Diane and Peggy, Joe and Ann, Ralph and Kris and Mike and Sandy. Look below to see a description and some pictures.  All attendees did not make each stop but we all enjoyed.  I know more pictures are coming in and we will update as necessary.  If anyone sees a mistake tell me and I'll fix it.  And at the end of the pictures showing daily events are some very nice shots by others in the group ... including some great pictures of boats underway.

SUNDAY AND MONDAY -- 19 and 20 July:  We left Point Lookout and headed for Chesapeake Boat Basin in Kilmarnock VA for a two day stay. We had dinner Sunday night at KCs ... a great meal. Monday we relaxed by the pool, toured the town and in the evening enjoyed a fantastic meal of Tuna Tacos provided by our Commodore Bill and his wife Donna.  Everyone pitched in with side dishes and we welcomed new members Joe and Ann Littleton.

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY -- 21 AND 22 July: After two days at Chesapeake Boat Basin most boats left Tuesday morning for Cape Charles. Joe and Ann departed for home as they had children coming for a visit. Diane and Peggy headed for home also. Chris and Mary Jane stayed another day at the Boat Basin and would catch up with the group again Thursday at Onancock on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake. Our trip to Cape Charles was a bit bumpy for some of the boats but it was a short 38 nautical miles and we made it in style. Went to dinner at the Oyster Farm Marina at Kings Creek Tuesday night where we were moored -- fantastic food, then rented golf carts and toured the town of Cape Charles on Wednesday. Several of the members went fishing on a charter boat arranged by Commodore Bill while the rest of us relaxed and enjoyed the pool. Later that night some ate aboard while others found nice places in town to eat.

THURSDAY -- 23 July: After two days at Cape Charles we were off to Onancock VA to join up with Chris and Mary Jane on Dauphine. The Bay was flat and we enjoyed the 44 mile run, especially the last 5 on Onancock River. Commodore Bill and Donna stopped and fished along the way but turned the Blue fish they caught back -- not his favorite. He rejoined us after trying to go up one creek with a similar name and all boats landed safely at Onancock wharf, where most found the Irish Pub and later dined at the Mallard Restaurant

The guys find the Irish Bar. What a surprise!
Or maybe it was the gals that found it!
But no doubt Mike and Bill enjoyed it!

We don't have pictures of Bob and Norma and Chris and Mary Jane this evening as they found a great restaurant in town and the only camera we had snapping pictures was at Mallard's.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY --- 24 and 25 July: We could not have asked for better weather for our trip from Onancock, across the Bay to White Point Marina off the Potomac. And we moved a bit faster as we were planning a superb ending to the long trip. Friday night we organized a Crab Feast with the local White Point Yacht Club at White Point Marina at their facility. On Saturday they invited us to a Beer Can Chicken dinner they were planning. It can't get much better than this. Mike and Sandy Rowzee, Peggy and Diane and Ralph and Kris joined us for the Friday night festivities. It is starting to work out that members who can't make the entire long trip are now planning to make at least part of it. Gotta smile!

SUNDAY -- 26 July: The end of the trip and we all had to head home. Pretty week and we all enjoyed. Now we just have to wait for next year and do it over again, but better...and longer!
