"Fellini at the Farm" & the General Membership Meeting October 19, 2013 This year "Fellini at the Farm" combined with the General Membership Meeting as 33 WYA members gathered at the Bolin's farmhouse in Farnham in cheerful camaraderie on a drizzly Autumn day. Our spirits were not to be dampened! Mandatory drinks and appetizers preceded the General Membership Meeting. The upcoming Secretary's report will note the business conducted, which concluded with the approval of the Bridge for 2014 that includes Bob Blunt for Commodore, Bill Bukevicz for Vice Commodore, Shannon Ritter for Rear Commodore, Norma Blunt for Secretary, and George Cajigal for Treasurer. Phil Bolin will attend Bridge meetings as Immediate Past Commodore. After the GMM we made our way to the Bolin's cottage that had been converted to a modest rendition of a Mediterranean Taverna. Unfortunately, the flash of the camera brightened the room for the photos, not capturing the candlelit mood of the event. It was cozy, close quarters, just right for a rowdy crew. Everyone contributed to the Mediterranean cuisine of the evening.....a leisurely progression of varied dishes. Set-ups for the occasion were the work of Shannon and Sue Ritter, Chris and Mary Jane Smith, and Carey Bolin. The true organizers and heavy lifters were Carey and Mary Jane.....and they got their well-earned round of applause. |

Here is a panorama view of the cottage with tables and chairs set up. Due to the weather, we, unfortunately, couldn't set up under the canopy of pine trees, as we did last year. |

Our favorite planners and workers for these major events, Carey and Mary Jane, with master chef Bob Blount in the background. His polenta with Bolognese sauce was unbelievably delicious! | |||
Some of the crew that arrived on Friday to set up and decorate.
And...why are they just sitting there!?! Well, they did complete their first finished accomplishment, setting up the
porch wine service. Get a glass before entry!

Part of the "long cruise" crew were drawn to the same table. So glad
to have our new "Coles Point contingency"! They're a great addition. Alongside, the Buswells, Smith/Vazquez, Enoses (is that the right plural???) and Mindy kept up the banter.

Cheers everyone! Or...was that perhaps a naughty toast by Captain
Mason? Maybe that's why Diane is looking a little askance. Center table held a hearty supply of breads, wines and, later, desserts.

Everyone got their turn to warm up and serve their special offering. Here is Bob
Blunt, our 2014 Commodore, stirring MJ's sausage and peppers, while waiting
to serve his polenta. Dinner over, we
adjourned outdoors, each with a bottle in hand, as we circled the bonfire.
Timing was perfect....the rain had just stopped.
With great regret, I didn't get a picture of the hearty kitchen crew, led again this year by Katherine Smith, assisted by Bob Blount and others, in washing a zillion dishes and glasses! They are the real heroes of the day! Many, many thanks for your generous help! MJ and Carey were delighted and relieved. |

Twelve overnight guests and Ralph and Kris enjoyed Sunday morning coffee,
Bloodies, mimosas, and a tasty breakfast casserole prepared by MJ and Chris,
along with croissants, fruits, and desserts. Reluctant to hit the road, we laughed well into the afternoon as we swapped stories and Ralph regaled us with tales from New Orleans. Many, many thanks for creating so many wonderful memories at the farmhouse for Phil and Carey. |
