2013 May 4 - Flag Raising and Cinco de Maya Another fantastic party ... flag raising followed by a Cinco de Mayo social full of friends, food, and drink, and finished with a Kentucky Derby function. All planned and orchestrated by Mary Jane Smith and Carey Bolin. We thank them for their effort. We all had fun because of their work. We also thank the Blunts; Bob, Norma, Eddy and Kay who provided the beautiful Bayside Marina facility for our party. Read on to get more of the details of the 45 members who attended the Flag Raising and following party.

You see Apolonia tied in a slip at Bayside Marina and Bob Blunt enjoying a gathering of a dozen Friday arrivals for the function.
Here is more of the group having Friday dinner at the Lighthouse. At far right is a picture of the start of the flag raising ceremony on Saturday.
We started by raising the U.S. and WYA flags and then listened to Commander David Adams of the USCG Aux. He gave an entertaining and educational talk for all of us. |

Following that Vice Commodore Chris Smith blessed the WYA fleet and Commodore Bolin presented new members Dan and Elaine Braud their burgee. We welcomed the new members who keep their boat at Coles Point Marina.
Then we started the party. Here is a part of the group getting ready. We also presented Vicky Enos with a Wall of Fame award for setting up our apparel web store. |

Another Wall of Fame award was presented to Ralph Mason and Kris Butera for gifting the club a beautiful WYA sign. At far right you see Chris Smith sitting down to enjoy his plate of fantastic food prepared by the members for us all.
Now we have some pictures of the group enjoying the camaraderie, food and drink.
As we neared the time of the running of the Kentucky Derby we moved upstairs to the Bayside Marina Captain's Lounge and enjoyed Mint Julep Punch made by Patti Woodside, other libations and some fantastic desserts.. We also held a "hat" party. The winners were: Win - Kris Butera, Place - Gary Vineyard, and Show - Jean Yeagley. Great fun as you see from the crowd picture at right.
