2013 April - 19-21 April Dennis Point Trip

The weather forecast said this would be a wash out.  It was not for the 16 people attending the event!  The 16 included:  Phil and Carey, Jack and Ann Southard, Chris and MJ Smith, Steve and Mary Ann Andrews, Shannan and Sue Ritter, Gary and Nancy Vineyard, Les and Hope Jackson, Bill Bowman, and Patti Woodside.  For the three boats and 1 cottage rental group arriving Friday they tied up or were well settled by 1 pm and had a great trip ... the storms happened Friday night.  For the 4 other boats and 2 driving down on Saturday the winds died down early Saturday and all had a good trip to Dennis Point Saturday.  All seven boats also had good trips home on Sunday with flat seas homeward bound.  In fact the first boat to arrive on Friday was Chris and MJ on Dauphine, our sailboat.  Chris says he had great round trip sail.

Honestly, everyone who came ... all 16 members ... claimed this was the marina that did the most to make our stay the very best.  Jim Godey, the owner, stopped by repeatedly and made sure we were happy and well cared for.  We were!  The restaurant food was fantastic.  The Saturday night barbeque was amazing!  A bonfire was set up for us both Friday and Saturday.  We did it Saturday as Friday night was too windy and had some strong rain.  All in all the best we've been treated.  Saturday morning after 8 people arrived Friday night Dennis Point provided a free Saturday breakfast brunch worthy of a fancy restaurant.  Saturday evening we had the rib and chicken barbeque on the tiki bar deck with pasta salad and several sides, followed by a Jimmy Buffet type singer that we enjoyed on the deck and later at the bonfire.  Sunday morning we had a breakfast menu at the restaurant.  One  member took advantage of the $4/foot price for a haul out and pressure wash ... a great deal!  And we welcomed two new members to the club.  Below are some pictures.

Dauphine, Chris and MJ's boat,  in her slip.  Gary displaying new WYA cap and polo shirt.  He is wearing a Large polo shirt.  Fits nice.
Nancy, MJ and Carey relaxing and at right you see the welcome sign Jim Godey had made for our visit.
You see SS Ritter at the dock and Nancy displaying our new WYA ball cap.
And here are some views of the facility, a very nice place.
Here we welcome two new members.  Steve and Mary Ann Andrews get their burgee at right and Patti Woodside receives hers at far right. Sorry we did not get better pictures of Steve and Mary Ann but we'll work on it ...
Jack and Ann and their new dog Mel (a female) enjoying the day.  At far right more of the crowd getting ready for the bonfire to start.
Les and Hope, with Patti and many others of the group. At right we have a copy of an earlier picture ... I'll get better one day!
Here we see Patti, Chris and MJ, and Bill Bowman after the sun went down and the bonfire was keeping us warm.  At far right the replica of the Dove from St Mary's City was sailing down the river as Apolonia passed.
