2012 PLAN FEST for 2013 Events On Saturday, December 1, our PLAN FEST for 2013 Events was held at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Colonial Beach in the Captains Lounge. Afterwards we had lunch in the Restaurant, then some proceeded on to Bill Bowman's boat Cherish to participate in the evening Lighted Boat Parade sponsored by the Colonial Yacht Center. |
|||
Carey, our Rear Commodore, arranged the PLAN FEST to mutually develop our 2013 boating schedule. The Captains Lounge was the ideal spot to gather and the Blount's treated us to refreshments and their always generous and genial hospitality.
But, before getting started on the schedule we welcomed Phil
and Patti Rogers to the Club. In the picture at right Patti accepted
their new burgee, while Phil Rogers attended the PRYCA Board meeting in the
room below us. He is the rising Fleet Captain for PRYCA in 2013.
At far right Ralph and Kris present the WYA Club a signature signboard plaque that Ralph had made after he started our club in 2005. A handsome sign board that we'll post somewhere very soon. This generous presentation earns Ralph and Kris a spot in our Wall of Fame. |
|||
With opening business concluded, we settled in to discussing the 2013 boating season. Lots of excellent ideas and interest. We're a lively group and it's going to be a stellar year!
With the draft schedule committed to paper and float captains noted, we agreed that it would be sent out to all members for comment, then updated and posted to the web page. We put our pens down and headed to the Lighthouse for lunch. We overtook the room with our crew and our motivational and enlightening conversations!?? Phil and Patti, our new members, are shown at far right ... Phil had returned from his PRYCA Bridge meeting.
Bill and Donna -- ready to have lunch.
We were going to decorate Bill Bowman's boat Cherish and participate in the Colonial Yacht Club sponsored Lighted Boat Parade at Colonial Beach. You see Bill contemplating what to do next as the group started arriving. |
|||
Richard Racine takes a break and strikes a pose as he toiled away, stringing
the lights along Cherish. We earned the boat 2nd Place in
the Lighted Boat Parade and Bill will take his spot in the "Wall
of Fame." Richard is a member of Colonial Yacht Club.
Bill drives us into the looming evening fog as his trusty mate Shannon looks on or looks askance.

Ah, another typically gorgeous sunset on Monroe Bay as we proceeded out to the River for the parade line-up. Some of the 25 crew members donned their parkas, hats and gloves and headed to the bow....retreating inside for the occasional refill.
And here is a picture of Cherish with her bow lighted and some of the gang enjoying the winter evening. At far right is another boat lighted for the parade. Cherish won 2nd place for her decorations.
Last minute decorating touches as more lights are merrily put in place and the even better parade of delicious dishes and required libations warmed us....bodies and souls! We excel at buffet and bar teamwork.
