After the Float In we headed out on the week long trip. Phil and Carey on Apolonia and Gary and Nancy on Summer "C" left for the trip and we met people on the way. Here is the story.
We moored the first two nights, Sunday and Monday, July 15 and 16 at White Point Marina, and had our share of hard shell crabs. Ruth and Jean joined us for the first night. It was great.
Here you see Ruth and Jean enjoying the crabs with Carey and Nancy. At
far right you see the club house and pool at White Point Marina. It is
a great spot. Clean and well cared for. The service is top
notch.
On Monday three boats from Landmark Yacht Club arrived and the five boats enjoyed discussing the PRYCA Float In and plans for the rest of the week. All five boats were on a week long cruise. |

Tuesday morning we headed for Crisfield, MD on the eastern shore. The Chesapeake Bay was flat calm. | Gary and Nancy travel much faster than Carey and I so we left several hours before they did and met at Crisfield. | We have no pictures for some unexplained reason but had a good meal and enjoyed the pool at Summer's Cover Marina. The town of Crisfield has lost half of its businesses it appears and is not very vibrant, but we had a good time.
We left on Wednesday for Onancock. There was 15 knots of wind and it was a bit rough on the Chesapeake but Apolonia and Summer "C" had a reasonable trip. It only took us 2.5 hours to make the trip. We enjoyed the town for two days. There was a beautiful town with very friendly people, lovely homes, and a beautiful creek from the Chesapeake to the town with more lovely homes. |
|||||
At right you see one of the great homes we walked by in the town of
Onancock. And at far right one of the homes on the creek to Onancock,
VA.
Wednesday for lunch we found an Irish Pub that served great sandwiches. For dinner we ate at an Italian Restaurant in town and really enjoyed good Italian food. |
|||||
More homes and a water starved park in the town.
Thursday evening Carey and Nancy fixed a fantastic meal for us consisting of Cornish Game Hens and all the fixings. Better than the Italian meal. |
|||||
Here is Summer "C" moored at Onancock. On Friday morning Apolonia left early to check out the Bay. It was predicted to be bad but "getting better." It did not get better soon. Apolonia was already too far out in the Bay to turn back so she continued the trip to Dennis Point. Summer "C" wisely stayed in Onancock one more day meeting new people. Carey and I had a great meal at Dennis Point, shown at far right.
Saturday morning Summer "C" left Onancock early and Apolonia left Dennis
Point. We met at Port Kinsale. There we were joined by Dick and
Anita Elmore and Ross and Kathy Jebson, who keep their boats at Port Kinsale.
We all went to The Backdraft Cafe for burgers and beer. A great time. Later that evening Carey and I, Gary and Nancy and Dick and Anita were joined by Jack and Terry who keep a boat at Port Kinsale at the Moorings Restaurant, where we enjoyed telling sea stories and had a great meal. Sunday was Carey and my wedding anniversary. Nancy and Gary cooked us an anniversary breakfast which we ate aboard Dick and Anita's new boat. Another great time. |

The trip is over. Gary and Nancy left to their home port in Colonial Beach and we relaxed at our home port, Port Kinsale. Maybe we'll have more boats join us next year on the week long cruise.
