2012 July 4th Party.  The 236th time we in the USA celebrated our independence, it was done by WYA  members and guests gathered at  Linda Weaver's home, right on the doorstep of the Potomac and immediately next to Colonial Beach fireworks.  Over 40 members and guests came to celebrate.  We opted for a simple 1950's traditional hamburgers and hot dogs cookout with sides and desserts -easiest choices on an overly stifling and humid day.   Hearty thanks to Linda for providing her home and joining Carey Bolin with the majority of the food preparation.  We must also acknowledge the two cooking chefs of the day, Gary Vineyard and Gary Ralston, or we'll never hear the end of it or, even worse, they might never cook again.  Those burgers and dogs (along with some fantastic Indian chicken) wouldn't have made it without them.  And, hats off to Linda Weaver,  Becky Hunt, Pat Ralston,  and Lori Wehr  for chipping in to get the food on the table and folks rounded up.  Lots of other offers to assist were really appreciated .

Here's Carey putting final touches on the food, or just focusing on that drink in her hand???  She's either blurry or in a flurry-probably both!   Further right offers a view of Linda's front yard with her welcoming  porch right on the Potomac.  Guests had the option of roasting in the yard, sitting under the porch fans, or relaxing  in air conditioning inside.  Whee!  It was hot!

Did Independence Day have to be in the dead of summer.  If a middle-aged woman had been in charge, that never would have happened.  Men just can't plan correctly.

Our awesome hostess Linda, with the hat on, standing with Becky as they took a break from food prep.  At far right is Pat Ralston, also a kitchen trooper.  Notice Bill Bowman sneaking by!

Lori Wehr's help with food prep was also greatly appreciated. And, she keeps us in great spirits.

Bill obviously was on his way to the buffet.  He also had reason to smile later as he won the 50/50 for $70+.  Either Nancy is giving him a hug or preparing to lunge for the hot dog.   At far right Gary Vineyard is either getting or imparting knowledge to George Cajigal Sr. The senior George always enjoys himself and we're always glad to see him.
Happy campers on the porch getting ready to watch the fireworks Wonderful to see Val Bowman, who is in between mission trips to Turkey.  We'll claim her as our Good Will ambassador and is an inspiration.  Obviously, Shannon, Bill, Sue, and Polly are enjoying themselves.

At far right Buzz overlooks the area from his command post on the porch with Harry and Lori alongside.

A gathering of the weary and overheated chefs (Gary and Gary) along with Anita, Nancy and Dick.  Next, Pat cuddles with her Gary while Dick appears to be digging into more dessert.  Vicki Enos' daughter, Christina and adorable granddaughter Savannah were on hand along with some of their friends.  Glad they came.
Harry and Lori, with Dick in the background, just sitting on the porch, taking it all in,  while Tom, Kathy and Diane enjoy the front yard. and people watching.  The sun is setting and we're getting ready for those fireworks.

Kathy brought another masterpiece libation.....Margaritas out of the Blue!  This woman is amazing!

Mike Enos, guarding the Miller Lite in the barrel to his left and his 50/50 tickets...draped around his neck.  Dick appears to still be eating....

I shot several pictures of Vicky and the group of guests they brought to the party, but the damn camera (or my shaky hand) caused them to be unusable. Sorry about that.  We'll get them next time.

At far right Peggy and cohorts relax and get ready for the fireworks.  Note the boats anchored out in the distance.  We boaters, however, are anchored to our chairs.  Go figure.

No pictures of the fireworks because my camera will not do them justice, but they were mighty fine...as usual..

Suffice it to say ... we had a fantastic time.  See you next year Linda!

The perfect location to watch it all!  The perfect crowd to see it with.
