2012 June Monroe Bay ... Saturday, June 9, we gathered at Monroe Bay Marina to celebrate Potomac River Festival and introduce potential members to our club. Chris and Mary Jane Smith were the Float Captains and did yeomen's work and a great job planning, decorating, and ensuring we all smiled, drank, and ate more than we should. Thanks Chris and Mary Jane. Everybody brought a dish to share and we surely sampled some of the best food in the state on that day. Tim Fields introduced us to his bean dish. Patty Kasold made a superb artichoke dish. Chris cooked the best Brats I've every eaten. Carey made a great corn bean salsa. Shannon smoked some super tender and tasty pulled pork. Katherine Smith made great coconut shrimp. And the list could go on! Amazing food! Plus, Kathy Carroll brought some more of her famous drinks. Life can't get better! Nor can the Mojitos! | |||||
Here is MJ decorating and setting the stage for the party. Chris is at far right cooking those great brats. Thanks to all who brought dishes, helped set up and clean up. We appreciate all the effort and it takes a group to make it all happen. |

We stopped and Commodore Phil took time to welcome 2 new memberships into the club. First, Tim and Pat Fields from Fairfax were presented their burgee. Next we welcomed back Nina Young and Jennifer Murphy into the fold. |

Pat Dates worked the crowd, selling 50/50 tickets to the crowd. After sales were final, the drawing identified Bruce Kasold as the lucky winner of $76.00. Gary and Tom were still smiling, even though they did not win the prize. |

Original plank members Hope Jackson and husband Les (in the background with Sue) joined us for the event, staying well into the night. Pat, Anita, and Norma were all smiles as they talked about who knows what. |

As the sun set we all got ready for the fireworks over the Potomac, right
after Bruce and Gary discussed the world's problems and hopefully set us all
straight. The fireworks were special and worthy of the Chamber of
Commerce's effort and planning.
