2014 March Pub Crawl Green turns out to be our color. With direction and hard work by Buzz and his helpers, WYA members were presented with a great event on Saturday. It started with a beautifully decorated Bayside Marina Captain's Lounge; decorations compliments of Chris, Mary Jane, Sue, Janet, Katherine and Carey. We then toured four local pubs (Dockside, High Tides, River Boat, and Hunan Diner) before returning to the Captain's Lounge for an Irish meal well prepared by Buzz and Shannon. The weather cooperated and Bill Milliscent drove his super-cool "short bus" to deliver all of us to the local pubs, along with his able helpers Bob Swink and Freddie Ahern. Bob served as Safety Director and Freddie made certain that no one toppled out the back door! The Captain's Lounge at Bayside Marina was provided by the Blunts. Couldn't ask for a better scenario. We also had several of our friends from Aquia Harbour Yacht Club sail down to join us. We had about 45 people and picked up a few vagrants along the way, with half the attendees in the group picture below.

Here is Bill in the driver's seat as we are unloading from the bus and heading for the first pub, Dockside Restaurant. |

Carey is smiling as she gets a drink at Dockside and Bob Swink the able "Sheriff" and safety inspector for the bus keeps us all in line.
Part of the crowd enjoying High Tides on a fine weekend day with temperatures in the 60s. Bill is still at his best driving us all around the town.
Diane and Gail at the bar. Got to be having fun. So glad to have
Gail and Bob back in the fold. And
you see Freddie Ahern in the back of the bus ... keeping us in line. While we don't have pictures of all the stops and we had to divide into 2 teams of 20 people we all appreciated the hospitality of four great pubs in Colonial Beach: Dockside, High Tides, River Boat and Hunan Diner. Allen at Hunan treated us all to a great wine drink. |

After the pub events we returned to Bayside Marina and the Captain's Lounge for an Irish Feast prepared by Buzz and Shannon, dressed for the occasion. Mike Enos fashioned his own sunshade so he could see his food. With Mike around, you need no other entertainment!
The crowd enjoying the food and swapping stories. We were pleased to be joined by our Aquia Harbor Yacht Club buddies. A fine group.
And more of it. | ||||
Here is more of the crowd as they take in a local pub. These pictures are, for the most part, of our Aquia Harbour friends.
We finish on a happy note. Everyone had a great time and we are already looking forward to next year...and the next WYA event.
And these last four pictures of some of the fellow laughing it up at the end of the event. You think anyone had a good time. |
