18 October 2014 General Membership Meeting

A different and amazing party for the General Membership Meeting.  We thank Ralph and Kris Mason for hosting the event at their home and with them thank Janet Coleman, Chris and Mary Jane Smith and the caterer Bill Hall for a complete party plan that made our day.  THANKS A BUNCH!  What a party.  Over 40 members showed up to participate and many attended, some by boat, to the Mason's dock on the Potomac River.  We started the party at 4:00 PM.  We held a short membership meeting where we elected our 2014 Bridge, then started the party.  Food by Bill Hall included pulled pork and beef brisket with all the sides plus a fantastic pecan pie for dessert.  Next came music by the Medicare Boys ... good 60's music followed by some great rock and roll.  Even as the temperature dropped and wind increased we stayed and enjoyed.

Our first duty was the General Membership Meeting where we elected next years Bridge The slate of officers for 2015 that were elected by the membership include:  Bill Bukevicz for Commodore, Shannon Ritter for Vice Commodore, George Cajigal for Rear Commodore, Anita Elmore for Treasurer and Katherine Smith for Secretary.  Filling out the Bridge is the Immediate Past Commodore Bob Blunt.

The party started for some by getting the boat ready to take people to the party.  Here is Paget a 22' Crus Along and later as it is underway taking WYA members Clare, Carey, Brad and Gary to the party.

And on its second trip from Colonial Beach to the party carrying Donna, Bill, Margot and Jeff.  Once there we see our host and party planners Janet, Kris and Ralph ... in full 60's costume.
Val came down from Richmond to join Bill at the party and we see the 60's dressed Mike Enos visiting with Donna.
More of the guys just visiting on the pier and the ladies enjoying the beautiful afternoon.
Here we have Bob and Gail, with Mike and Steve in the background and with the wind starting to blow Bill, Stan and Pam discussing, I'm sure, some boating issue.
George and Bill probably getting an early start on planning next year's activities ... George is next year's Rear Commodore and Bill is next year's Commodore.  Slightly in the shade we see Steve and Mary Ann and their boat Rhapsody in the background.  They took Ralph and Kris up on their offer to tie up at their dock for the weekend of the party.
Brad and Clare relax on the dock, with Paget in the background, their taxi to and from the party.  The ladies are probably planning their husband's next week to do list and it does look like they are enjoying the activity.
More socializing on the deck ... everybody is enjoying ... no doubt about it.
And there is more, then the Medicare Boys arrive and set up to play some great 60's music.
Food is served and everybody has their fill.  Dan, Mike, Vicky, Gail, Bob and Elaine captured one table while Don and Gary had their fill earlier and were just relaxing.
Here is a shot of Rhapsody (Steve and Mary Ann's boat) and Our Time (Dan and Elaine's boat) that were moored at the Mason's dock for the evening of the party.  They came up from Cole's Point for the event.
A view from the end of the dock to the party area where we were having such a good time, and on the gazebo portion, the Medicare Boys making their music.
A couple of happy boaters smiling (Gail and Janet) and Ralph saying hi.
Dick and Anita staying warm and listening to the music while just a chair away is another crowd enjoying the same.
Here we have some of the decorations blowing in the wind ... while a similar sounding words were being played.  Bruce and Patti dancing as the sun went down.

Yes ... we say once again ... thanks Ralph and Kris for providing such a fantastic place to have such a great party.
