16-17 August 2014 -- Trip to Corinthian Yacht Club Vice Commodore Bill and wife Donna planned a spur of the moment trip to Corinthian Yacht Club.. Attendees included Bill and Donna, Steve and Mary Ann, Dan and Elaine, Phil and Patti, Phil and Carey, Gary Vineyard (Nancy had to travel to Florida for the week), and guests Tom and Terry. We landed just after lunch Saturday and partied all day and night. Sunday morning included the arrival of Ruth and Jean and a trip on their boat across the basin to Point Lookout Marina and a breakfast buffet at Spinnakers. Could not have been a better getaway weekend. |
||||
Festivities started poolside as we once again took advantage of Corinthian's hospitality. For those boaters that haven't yet visited this yacht club, you need to. Folks are welcoming and the site is wonderful. Plus, the slip fees were very reasonable; $35.00 per boat that included electricity. |

It was hard not to enjoy the beautiful weather, perfect surroundings, and luscious concoctions. |

A view down Smith Creek, with Pt. Lookout Marina to the left, and the well-furnished pool area adjacent to the club house.
As we relaxed around the pool Phil Rogers brought up his famous Beer Margaritas. An amazing drink that put more than a few of us in the mood for an afternoon nap.
My camera's attempt at a panoramic view. Not great but it gives you a better feel for the fantastic facility. Freddie Overson, owner of Overson's Marina off the Yecomico River brought his trawler over for the day and moored along side Apolonia
The Corinthian Dock Master Jim Tessler having a laugh with Bill and our guest Tom.
Gathering under the trees and starting preparations for the evening meal. Patti's setting up.
The guys are also doing a bit of relaxing of their own and getting the grills ready.
And if you ever wanted to know how many boaters it takes to light a grill ... the answer's in the first picture at right. We're not sure why Gary is smiling as he was carefully coached into doing the majority of the cooking for the group. That happens a lot...he's just a good sport.
Just hanging out. We do that well.
Now there were a few pictures of the party that happened after the evening
meal, but I can't find them as I can't remember too much of the party.
Carey said we got to bed by 2 am.
This would be your Sunday morning gathering. no sermons, but lots of communion. Ruth and Jean, who now keep their boat at Pt. Lookout Marina came over and we started on the Mimosas and Bloodies. Oh, the day could have gone downhill, but we decided not to cook and to hop on Rutean Pleasure and motor over to Pt. Lookout and partake of Spinnaker's buffet breakfast. Good choice. |

There's a pose! | ||||
We were joined by Ron, a Corinthian member that we were pleased to meet. Cheers, everyone.
Back to Corinthian, started to unwind, and get ready to go home. While only a 24 hour trip it was full of good old camaraderie and boating. Bring on some more of that.
